Lead Coaches

Matt Koken

Junior 3 Lead Coach

Coach Matt joined the Foxjets Swim Team staff in the Fall of 2017 and is now entering his 17th season with the team. A Woodbury native, he swam for East Ridge High School and the South East Metro Sharks. Specializing in butterfly, Matt earned individual state titles, held a state record, and twice placed in the top four at the Minnesota High School State Championships. He continued his swimming career at the University of North Dakota, where he was a four-year Division I letter winner and earned his degree in Marketing.

Since joining Foxjets, Matt has coached athletes at every level of the age group program, from developing swimmers to state champions. His athletes have achieved team records, Zone championships, and most recently a second-place team finish at the 10&U State Meet.

Matt currently lives in Richfield with his dog, Atlas, while working at Boston Scientific. His favorite part of coaching is the opportunity to give back to the sport that has given him so much, and he especially enjoys helping swimmers realize their full potential.

Catie Chang

Junior 1 & 2 Lead Coach

Coach Catie joined Foxjets in April 2024 and brings nearly a decade of coaching experience to the program. She began coaching in 2014 with Barracuda Aquatics Club, serving primarily as an Assistant Coach for the Senior Team before returning from 2019–2024. Throughout her coaching career, she has worked primarily with 13 & over athletes while also supporting younger swimmers as needed. Catie holds USA Swimming coaching certifications, is ASCA Level 1–2 certified (currently working toward Level 3), and is also a certified Lifeguard Instructor.

A former Foxjets swimmer herself, Catie swam for Burnsville Swim Club, Foxjets, and Aquajets before competing collegiately at the University of Connecticut (UCONN) from 2010–2014, where she served as team captain her senior year. Her primary events included the 200 and 400 IM, 200 fly, and 200 breast. In 2007, she attended the USA Swimming Diversity Select Camp while a Foxjets athlete, with Coach Lloyd serving as the attending coach — an experience that further shaped her love for the sport.

Catie’s coaching philosophy centers on developing strong technique, effective race strategy, and confident competitors while helping athletes grow beyond the pool. She believes swimming builds discipline, resilience, accountability, and confidence — skills that carry into every area of life. Having grown up swimming in Minnesota, coaching at Foxjets feels like a full-circle moment, and she is passionate about giving back to the sport that shaped her.

Outside the pool, Catie enjoys traveling to Malaysia to visit family, attending concerts, working on home projects, and spending time with her fiancé and her two cats, Ollie and Onyx.

Coach Dave Cameron brings 27 years of coaching experience and a deep commitment to growing Masters swimming in Minnesota. He is a USMS and ASCA Level 3 certified coach and was the recipient of the 2025 USMS National Coaching Award for Grassroots Coaching.

Dave’s swimming journey began at Carleton College, where he was a 15-time All-Conference swimmer specializing in distance freestyle events. His passion for endurance swimming extended beyond the pool as he developed and led a West Metro triathlon and open water masters program, while personally training for and successfully completing two solo English Channel swims.

In addition to coaching Foxjets Masters, Dave serves as the Coaching Director for Total Immersion worldwide, traveling internationally to lead open water camps and coach education programs. His international coaching experience includes guiding a medalist to the Paralympic finals in 2016 and 2020, as well as coaching at the 2024 Canadian Olympic Trials. Locally, he also runs private lessons, adult swim clinics, outdoor practices, and serves as Co-Head Coach of the Benilde-St. Margaret Boys High School Swim Team.
