Training Groups & Athlete Development
Our tiered program offers a clear pathway for
competitive swimming in Minnesota, ensuring every athlete from beginner to elite finds their perfect lane.
Developmental Groups
Focus: Foundational skills, safety, and fun with purpose.
Red (7 & under):
For young swimmers capable of 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke. Recommended 1–3 practices per week.
White (8–13):
Designed for older beginners to master freestyle and backstroke. Recommended 1–3 practices per week.
Blue (8 & under):
For swimmers proficient in 3 strokes and ready to learn starts and turns
Age Group (AG) Pathway
Focus: Technical mastery and introducing competitive standards.
Age Group 3 (9–13):
Proficiency in 3 strokes required; focus on goal-driven commitment.
Age Group 2 (9–13):
Requires proficiency in all 4 strokes and specific time standards, such as 100 Freestyle @ 2:30.
Age Group 1 (11–13):
For swimmers with two 9-10 Gold times, focusing on 4 practices per week.
Junior Performance Pathway
Focus: Building the engine and refining competitive strategy.
Junior 3 (10 & under):
Advanced training for young swimmers with Silver or Gold times. Includes 3-4 practices per week plus dryland.
Junior 2 (11–14):
Requires two 9-10 Champ times; focuses on 4 practices per week plus dryland.
Junior 1 (11–14):
For athletes with 11-12 Champ times, training 4-5 times per week.
Senior & National Programs
Focus: Elite competition and high-level commitment.
Senior 2 (14+):
For swimmers with prior competitive experience focusing on 3-4 practices per week.
Senior 1 (14+):
Requires 13-14 Gold times and a commitment to 4-5 practices per week plus dryland.
National (14+):
Our premier group for Sectional and Championship qualifiers. Training involves 5+ practices per week and elite standards.
